Novers Hill Design Competition

Goram Homes has announced gcp Chartered Architects as the winner of the Novers Hill design competition. Read the press release here.

The competition, facilitated by Bristol Housing Festival, invited local architects to submit imaginative and ecologically innovative proposals for the former school site in Knowle West, which borders the Western Slopes.  Read the press release here.

·The design included an anonymous first stage before deciding the shortlist - which included Barefoot Architects, Ferguson Mann Architects, Mitchell Eley Gould Architects with Studio Knight Stokoe and RHaR Architects.

The competition was launched earlier this year for Novers Hill, a brownfield site which was formerly the location of a primary school (since demolished). Read the press release here.

The site is adjacent to the Western Slopes, a well-loved green space which has been declared a site of ecological importance. Goram Homes were looking for imaginative proposals from local architects for a residential-led scheme that enhances the ecology and biodiversity of this neighbouring site.

MEET THE TEAM

Goram Homes is a Bristol-based housing company. They build homes that create communities and are environmentally, socially and economically sustainable.

Having previously launched two successful design competitions, Goram Homes believes that this is the most fair and transparent way to select the most suitable design and team to take this project forward.

The competition will be managed and stage 1 anonymised by Bristol Housing Festival.

Community representatives, including Friends of the Western Slopes, will also provide input and feedback throughout the competition.
